Tarantino lands deal for film books

-

Oscar-winning director Quentin Tarantino has a two-book deal with Harper, beginning with a novelization of “Once Upon a Time ... In Hollywood” that is scheduled for next summer.

“Once Upon a Time” will be a true Tarantino production: Thebook will come out first as a massmarket paperback, like the old pulp novels the film maker loves, and will offer “a fresh, playful and shocking departure fromthe film,” according to Harper.

“In the ’70s, movie novelizations were the first adult books I grewup reading,” Tarantino said in a statement Tuesday. “And to this day, Ihave a tremendous amount of affection for the genre. So as amovie-novelization aficionado, I’m proud to announce ‘Once Upon a Time ... In Hollywood’ asmy contribution to this often marginalized, yet beloved sub-genre in literature.”

Tarantino’s second book will be the nonfiction “Cinema Speculation,” which Harper is calling “a deep dive into themovies of the 1970s” that draws in part on the director’s admiration for the late New Yorker critic Pauline Kael. Are lease date has not been determined.

Newowner Shamrock Capital paid over$300 million for the rights to Swift’s master recordings stretching back to2006.

In a statement posted to social media, Swift, 30, slammed the transaction and Braun, writing that she andher team hadbeen attempting tobuy back her music.

In a separate letter to

As a result, she will proceed with her plans to re-record the albums as away to circumvent the rights issues.
