After layoffs this summer, Legoland Florida announced it is now hiring more employees to get ready for the holiday season.

The Winter Haven theme park and hotels is recruiting for 150 employees to fill 39 full-time and part-time positions across departments including entertainment, operations, hotel services, security, retail and water park lifeguards. People can apply at http://jobs.legoland.com/

“Employees who were part of a furlough or position restructure are invited to apply to the posited positions. Our team first worked to fill any open position with furloughed employees who had similar skills,” said spokeswoman Kelly Hornick in an email.

Legoland’s hiring announcement comes as thousands of Central Florida workers are furloughed or have lost their jobs at Disney, Universal, SeaWorld and hotels across the region.

At Legoland, the starting hourly wage is $9, although some of the positions are salaried, the spokeswoman said.

This month, voters approved a ballot initiative to gradually raise the state’s minimum wage to $15 an hour, but Hornick said there are no immediate effect on its starting pay as Legoland grows its workforce.

“However, our team is already working through plans to align with the new statewide requirements within the guided timelines,” she said.

Hornick added employees get other benefits such as tuition assistance and free unlimited use of the local transit system.

“With Holidays at Legoland opening later this month, our year-round water park and three on-site hotels, we are continuing to find new ways to create a safe place to play for families which requires us to grow our team.

This includes opening new stage shows this holiday season and gearing up for new events to celebrate our upcoming tenth birthday in 2021,” she said.
