For the second consecutive season, Florida Panthers captain Aleksander Barkov will donate $1,600 for each goal he scores to the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital Foundation.

Barkov, who also provides a suite for games at the BB&T Center for use to those connected to the facility, contributed $32,000 to the nonprofit foundation last year for the 20 goals he netted in the COVID-19-shortened season.

Having made several trips to the facility in the past, Barkov has met with children, parents, caregivers and administrators, bringing gifts and signing autographs.

“I am happy to continue my support of JDCH for the 202021 NHL season,” Barkov said in a press release. “Seeing the smiling kids, their families, and the hospital staff at each game last season was uplifting, and I am looking forward to that again. I’m also hopeful that I’ll soon be able to visit the children’s hospital again once the pandemic is under control.”

During the league’s last full season, the Boca Raton resident set the team’s single-season scoring record with a 96-point campaign that was highlighted by 35 goals.

Barkov — the No. 2 pick in the 2013 draft by the Panthers — has tallied 155 goals during his eightyear career.

Updates on the campaign will be documented throughout the season on Barkov’s Instagram account (@barkovsasha) and the hospital foundation’s Facebook page (@jdchfoundation).

In Hollywood, Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital offers a broad variety of healthcare services and programs designed specifically for children.
