Accused kidnapper in prison most of adulthood

- By Eileen Kelley

It was only when he was not behind razor-wired walls that Jaddier Sanchez managed to not get arrested.

The 37-yearold accused kidnapper who has spent all but a few years of his adult life behind bars though likely faces his toughest court battle yet. Sanchez, of West Palm Beach, is scheduled to appear before a judge Fairfax County, Va., on Wednesday morning on three weapons charges, a drug charge and a traffic offense. Back in Florida, he is facing a mountain of charges that could include three counts of kidnapping, armed robbery and grand theft of a vehicle.

Sanchez, police in Pembroke Pines say, kidnapped Nicole Martinez and her parents from

their home and forced them at gunpoint to withdraw from their bank accounts.

Hours later Jan. 17, the parents were dropped off in Belle Glade and Sanchez pushed north with the 18-year-old daughter in a stolen car.

Virginia State Police spotted the stolen vehicle in Fairfax County and arrested Sanchez without incident early Monday.

Sanchez’s first arrest as an adult was in 2002 when he was 18; he was charged with shoplifting. Weeks later, he was arrested again for burglary, larceny and carrying a concealed weapon, according to Florida Department of Law Enforcement criminal database.

He was arrested just a few months after that on aggravated stalking charges.

In 2003, Sanchez was sent to prison for the first time.

The following year when he got out, freedom was fleeting after he got arrested and charged with aggravated battery.

He continued to rack up more criminal charges including kidnapping and domestic violence with intent to kill.

Records on those cases were not immediately available because they are too old to be accessible online.

Sanchez was sent to prison again in 2006, this time for 15 years after an armed robbery with a deadly weapon charge. Records reveal he was released in May 2020. Five months later, he was arrested again and charged with trespassing.

Police in Pembroke Pines had not completed paperwork detailing the charges against Sanchez on Tuesday.

It is likely that Virginia will hold him without bond until he is extradited back to Florida.

Police previously said Sanchez and Martinez shared a “romantic relationship.”

Martinez was taken to a Virginia hospital Monday where she was treated for minor injuries.
