Hurricanes welcome 3 transfers, plus 7 early enrollees
Ten additions to the Miami Hurricanes roster for the spring — three transfers and seven early enrollees from the 2021 recruiting class — were confirmed by a Miami spokesperson on Monday evening. Monday was the first day of spring-semester classes at UM.
The incoming freshmen are tight end Elijah Arroyo, kicker Andres Borregales, defensive end Thomas Davis, quarterback Jake Garcia, offensive tackle Michael McLaughlin, striker Chase Smith and linebacker Deshawn Troutman.
All three of the Hurricanes’ transfer additions — wide receiver Charleston Rambo (Oklahoma), cornerback Tyrique Stevenson (Georgia) and defensive end Deandre Johnson (Tennessee) — began spring courses Monday. Stevenson and Johnson are making homecomings after playing high school football at Miami Southridge before attending their previous SEC schools.
The 10, a list which could see a few additions in the coming days, can participate in spring practices.
Others could still be added from Miami’s 2021 recruiting class, depending on individual situations. Miami Northwestern safety Kamren Kinchens told the South Florida Sun Sentinel he only has to take the final exam for one virtual class to enroll.
The last day for spring registration is Feb. 2, according to the UM academic calendar.
The dates for spring drills and the spring game at Miami are yet to be announced.
Last year, the Hurricanes were four practices into their slate of 15 before the onset of the COVID19 pandemic in the United States cut it short. The team reunited for conditioning in the summer before fall camp ahead of the season.
