Trips to UF, Colorado highlight early schedule

The FAU Owls’ full football schedule was released on Wednesday, and trips to play Florida and Air Force highlight the first month.

Florida Atlantic will open its season on the road in Gainesvill­e on Sept. 4 in the first of four non-conference games to start the season.

FAU will follow up the Owls-Gators matchup with consecutiv­e home games against Georgia Southern (Sept. 11) and Fordham (Sept. 18) before closing out the non-conference portions of its schedule on the road against the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs (Sept. 25).

The Owls will open Conference USA play when they host the Shula Bowl against FIU on Oct. 2 at FAU Stadium.

FAU, which is in the conference’s East division, will play its two cross-division games of the season on the road against UAB (Oct. 9) and at home versus UTEP (Oct. 30).z

After a bye week on Oct. 16, the Owls will play Charlotte on the road on Oct. 23. The matchup against UTEP will be followed by another home game versus Marshall on Nov. 6.

The Owls are scheduled for backto-back road games against Old Dominion (Nov. 13) and Western Kentucky (Nov. 20) before finishing the regular season versus Middle Tennessee State on Nov. 27 at FAU Stadium.

All of FAU’s 2021 games are scheduled for Saturday’s.

According to the conference, “all games are subject to date changes and some dates are expected to move in the coming weeks in order to accommodat­e national television,” with a schedule of televised games being released at a later date.

The Conference USA championsh­ip game is scheduled for Dec. 4.
