’Canes to open 2021 vs. Tide in Atlanta
The complete Miami Hurricanes 2021 football schedule was unveiled on Thursday morning with the ACC’s release of its conference game dates.
Key among UM’s ACC slate: The Hurricanes’ shot at revenge against North Carolina comes on Oct. 16 in Chapel Hill; they visit rival Florida State on Nov. 13 and have their home game against Virginia Tech the following week on Nov. 20.

The Hurricanes kick off the season against national champion Alabama in Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Sept. 4. They then host Appalachian State (Sept. 11), Michigan State (Sept. 18) and Central Connecticut State (Sept. 25) the following three Saturdays.
The ACC opener for UM then comes on a quick turnaround, the following Thursday night, Sept. 30, against Virginia.
The Hurricanes have their lonebyeweekaheadofthebig rematch with the Tar Heels after the 2020 regular season ended with the 62-26 debacle that cost Miami a spot in the Orange Bowl and sent UNC right back to Hard Rock Stadium to face Texas A&M in the New Year’s Six bowl instead.
UM then has a home game against North Carolina State
on Oct. 23, hits the road to face Pittsburgh on Oct. 30 and hosts Georgia Tech on Nov. 6 leading up to FSU week.
The regular season finale then comes at Duke on Nov. 27.
The 2021 schedule, if it remains intact amid the coronavirus pandemic, would be a return to the standard eight ACC games plus four non-conference games for Miami.
Last year, the schedule was altered to a “10-plus1” format of 10 ACC games and one non-conference matchup. Positive COVID cases and contact tracing, whether with the Hurricanes or their opponents, caused multiple games to either be postponed, canceled or replaced with another opponent.
