Here’s a breakdown of the Great White Way national tours coming to the Broward Center, according to Broadway Across America, a presenter of touring Broadway shows in 47 regional markets, including Fort Lauderdale and Miami.

Nov. 3-14 — ‘Come From Away’

In the immediate aftermath of 9/11, all air traffic in North America was grounded, and from that springs this musical surrounding an airline full of passengers stranded in a small town in Newfoundland. At first wary, the locals take in the out-of-towners and work through their differences, which reportedly mirrors what happened in real life in the true story this Tony Award-winning show comes from.

Dec. 14-19— ‘The Prom’

This musical is about Broadway actors, with their stardom descending, who decide to boost their image by traveling to a conservative town to help a lesbian high schooler overcome the local leadership’s opposition to her bringing a same-sex date to her prom. This is one of the shows with a one-week run that you can make a subscriber choice.

Jan. 11-23, 2022 — ‘Tootsie’

Based on the 1982 cross-dressing comedy film of the same name, this stage musical moves the action from a TV soap opera to a Broadway show. But the story is the same: A talented but hopelessly unpopular actor has to disguise himself as a woman in order to get a job. “Tootsie” bowed on Broadway in 2018 and ran for a year with 293 performances.

Feb. 8-20, 2022 — ‘Ain’t Too Proud: The Life and Times of the Temptations’

Yes, this is the second Broadway hit to mine gold from the storied Motown record company. The Detroit label was in the stage musical spotlight with “Motown the Musical.” And some might say that “Dreamgirls” was the first clone, siphoning off the story of the Supremes the way it did. Which is a perfect segue to a bit of trivia: The Supremes were originally called the Primettes, and were a girl group in support of the Temptations, who were then the bigger act known as the Primes. This musical retelling of that history will include some of the Temptations’ biggest hits including “My Girl,” “Just My Imagination,” “Get Ready” and “Papa Was a Rolling Stone.”

March 9-20, 2022 — ‘Disney’s Frozen’

Based on the 2013 super-dupermega-hit movie of the same name, this stage musical version follows closely the film’s narrative of Elsa and Anna, two sisters (spoiler alert: one has magical powers that inform the title). They are also princesses who learn about sacrifice and love through their adventures. In addition to a dozen new songs, the Broadway show includes favorite numbers from the movie such as “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?,” “Love Is an Open Door,” “For the First Time in Forever,” “Reindeer(s) Are Better Than People,” “Fixer Upper,” “In Summer,” “Monster” and, of course, what has become a standard now, “Let It Go.”

April 5-10, 2022 — ‘Cats’

The movie version of this Broadway phenomenon may have been a dud, but the stage musical still has its devotees and at least eight lives left. At least that’s what producers are betting with this refurbished production (new lighting, sound and choreography). For those unfamiliar, the musical is a series of vignettes with songs by Andrew Lloyd Webber based on T.S. Eliot’s poetry collection “Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats.” The big hit song is “Memory,” which almost immediately became a standard when the show bowed in London’s West End in 1981 (running for 21 years) and then on Broadway a year later (going on to run for 18 years). This is the other one-week run that you can make a subscriber choice.

May 4-15, 2022 — ‘Pretty Woman: The Musical’

Yup, yet another musical based on a movie. This time the film is 1990s starrer with Julia Roberts and Richard Gere. The plot is the same: A hooker with a heart of gold is hired to accompany a big-time tycoon through a flurry of weekend events. This Cinderella tale hit the Great White Way in 2018 and bowed out a year later.
