Three women charged in attack on Popeyes employee
Three of four women seen on video attacking and robbing a Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen restaurant employee in Lantana have been arrested, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said on Friday.
According to investigators, Brianna Toombs, 19, Chloe Arieigha Hernandez, 21, Joanna Ceidi, 19, and a fourth woman were seen in a Nissan Sentra at the Popeyes drive-thru window at 7049 Seacrest Blvd., southeast of Interstate 95 and Hypoluxo Road, just after 1 p.m. Tuesday.
Demarco Quant, 33, of Coral Springs, was in the car behind theirs and he video recorded the incident on his cellphone.
“It was a moment I was totally shocked by,” he said.
The video showed one woman arguing with the cashier before reaching through the window and throwing punches. Three other women got out of the car and joined in. The cause of the argument is unknown.
During the fight, one woman reached through the window and grabbed money from the cash register before the group got back in the Nissan and drove off, detectives said.
One of the women was also seen spraying some unknown aerosol through the window, Quant added.
“I couldn’t walk into the restaurant because everyone was running out coughing,” he said.
The trio was rounded up and booked into the Palm Beach County Jail between 12:30 and 2 a.m. Friday. They are facing charges that include armed robbery and burglary with assault or battery, records show.
