Best places to live in South Florida
According to Niche.com, Weston and Grandview Heights make the top ten
If you’re reading this, it’s likely that you don’t have to look far to find the cities and towns on Niche.com’s 2021 list of “Best Places to Live in the Miami Area.”
Broward County’s Weston and Palm Beach County’s Grandview Heights neighborhood in West Palm Beach made the top 10, ranking at No. 10 and No. 8, respectively.
Miami-Dade County and Miami grabbed the remaining eight spots in the top 10, most notably the Brickell Avenue area near downtown Miami, which took the No. 1 spot, and Pinecrest, a suburb in south Miami-Dade County, came in second.
The grading system, according to Niche.com, was determined by factors “including the quality of local schools, crime rates, housing trends, employment statistics, and access to amenities.”
Weston, with a listed population of 70,614, also got an overall grade of A+, and among its top-graded categories were public schools (A-); good for families (A); and diversity (A). Niche listed the median home value at $481,800, and the median rent at $2,188.
Grandview Heights, with a listed population of 1,073, got an overall grade of A+ from the website. Its nightlife got a grade of A+, its diversity earned a grade of A, and it got an A- in the “good for families” category, according to Niche.com.
Niche.com reported the
median home value in Grandview Heights as $448,641 (national average at $217,500), and the median rent at $1,473 (national average at $1,062).
Broward County had two additional locales in the top 20: downtown Fort Lauderdale (No. 17) and Cooper City (No. 20).
Downtown Fort Lauderdale got an overall grade of an A, and it received its best grades for nightlife (A+) and diversity (A-).
Cooper City got an A overall, with its best marks being diversity (A) good for families (A).
Palm Beach County’s Boca Raton was No. 19 overall, and Highland Beach got an overall grade of A , with high marks for good place for families (A) and public schools (A).
