Florida State on Wednesday released updated renderings for its proposed 150,000-square-foot football operations building.

The project was unveiled in 2018 as part of a five-year fundraising campaign by the school and the Seminole Boosters to raise $100 million in order to build a new football facility as well as provide upgrades to Dick Howser Stadium and the Tucker Center.

“We need these additional facilities to properly serve the needs of our football program and to enable us to expand existing shared areas in the Moore Athletic Center and improve our ability to support all our sports,” FSU athletics director David Coburn said.

“I know we will find, as we did when we built the Dunlap Athletic Training Center, that these facility improvements have a huge impact across the board.”

“We recently reached the $100 million pledge goal of the Unconquered Campaign and will continue to raise funds to accomplish all of our goals,” Seminole Boosters CEO Mike Alford said.

The new football facility will be located adjacent to the indoor practice facility and the practice fields. It will feature position meeting rooms, a locker room, a recruiting lounge, offices for the coaching staff, a strength and weight training center and virtual reality/ performance enhancement areas.

“This facility project is all about attracting the very best student-athletes and developing them in all aspects,” Alford said. “We are committed to fostering an environment where every student-athlete is able to perform at a high level while receiving leadership and life-skills training that they can take with them after they graduate.”

The project has been privately funded through booster donations and new revenue streams tied to proposed changes to Doak Campbell Stadium. So far, the group has raised over $43 million through its fundraising campaign.

The original plan for opening the facility was projected for July 2021.

No updated timeline was given for the project.
