Durant exits Nets loss with thigh contusion

Kevin Durant was forced to leave the Nets’ 109-107 loss to the Miami Heat on Sunday early in the first quarter with a left thigh contusion.

Durant scored the Nets’ first eight points of the game before exiting in the first quarter.

He has missed 33 games this season, with 24 of those related to a left hamstring injury. He missed six others in accordance with the league’s health and safety protocols related to the coronavirus and three more for injury management.

The Heat were playing Sunday without Jimmy Butler, sidelined with an ankle sprain. But Bam Adebayo hit a 13-foot jumper rattled in as time expired to snap the Heat’s three-game slide.

Adebayo had 21 points and 15 rebounds for the Heat, who trailed by six points in the final minutes before finishing the game on a 10-2 run.

The league fined the Spurs $25,000 for violating the league’s player resting policy.

Golf: Lydia Ko shot a finalround 7-under 65 on Saturday to win the LPGA Lotte Championship in Kapolei, Hawaii. Ko finished at 28-under 260, seven shots clear of four players. Ko set course and tournament records in earning her 16th career victory and first in three years . ... U.S. Ryder Cup captain Steve Stricker won the Chubb Classic on Sunday in Naples, Fla., for his sixth career Champions Tour title.

NFL: Chiefs TE Fred Arbanas, a key member of their first two Super Bowl teams who later had a long career in local politics, died. He was 82. No cause of death was given.

NHL: The Rangers beat the host Devils 5-3 to sweep a four-game series over the last six days and extend their season-high point streak to six games (5-0-1).

Tennis: Stefanos Tsitsipas won the Monte Carlo Masters without dropping a set, beating Andrey Rublev 6-3, 6-3 for his first ATP title this year and sixth overall. It was Tsitsipas’ first Masters title.
