■ „ Dodgers, Mariners: Julio Urías threw seven dominant innings of one-hit ball, striking out a careerhigh 11 and leading the Dodgers to a 1-0 win over the Mariners on Tuesday in Seattle. The matchup between early-season division leaders out West was an entertaining pitchers’ duel with Urías getting the better of Marco Gonzales. Corey Seager drove in the only run with a two-out single in the third after AJ Pollock’s leadoff double. Those were the Dodgers’ only hits in the game. Urías (3-0) was outstanding, painting edges with a fastball in the mid-90s that kept hitters guessing. The Mariners’ lone hit was Mitch Haniger’s slow infield single with two outs in the third . ... OF Mookie Betts was out of the Dodgers lineup after getting hit on the right forearm by a pitch a night earlier. Manager Dave Roberts said he doesn’t expect it to be a long-term issue. X-rays on Betts’ arm were negative. ... The Mariners welcomed back last year’s AL rookie of the year Kyle Lewis. The outfielder made his season debut after spending the first few weeks on the IL with a bone bruise in his right knee suffered late in spring training. Lewis walked in his first plate appearance of the season and was 0-for-3.

„ ■ Mets: The Mets tweaked their rotation before their series against the Cubs, giving ace Jacob deGrom an extra day of rest. The 32-year-old deGrom was slated to start Thursday at Wrigley Field, but the two-time National League Cy Young Award winner was moved back to Friday’s home game against the Nationals. Manager Luis Rojas said deGrom asked for the extra rest. “Jake this time wanted the extra day, and it keeps Lucchesi in line, too,” Rojas said before Tuesday’s series opener against the Cubs. DeGrom worked six innings in Game 1 of Saturday’s doubleheader against the Rockies, striking out 14 for the second straight outing and leading the Mets to a 4-3 victory. He’s 1-1 with a sparkling 0.45 ERA over his first three starts. DeGrom’s performance included nine straight strikeouts, one shy of Tom Seaver’s MLB record.

„ ■ Nationals: OF Juan Soto was placed on the 10-day IL with a strained left shoulder, the latest setback for the 2019 World Series champions. Soto, the reigning NL batting champ, is batting .300 with two HRs and eight RBIs this season. The Nats began the day in last place in the NL East with a 5-9 record, thanks in large part to problems with their starting rotation. Stephen Strasburg is on the IL with right shoulder inflammation, Jon Lester began the season on the COVID-19 list and has yet to make his Nats debut, and Max Scherzer is 0-1 heading into his scheduled start Wednesday.

■ „ Extra innings: OF Anthony Santander had to be helped off the field after he hurt his left leg in the first inning of the Orioles’ road game against the Marlins. Santander singled and was hurt returning to first base on a pickoff throw. He was replaced by Austin Hays, who was activated before the game after being sidelined since April because of a right hamstring strain. ... The Tigers-Pirates game was postponed because of snowy weather in Detroit. The teams will try to play a doubleheader Wednesday,... INF Neil Walker retired after 11-plus seasons. He played 18 games for the Phillies this season. Walker, 35, hit .267 with 149 HRs and 60 RBIs for the Pirates, the Mets, Brewers, Phillies, Marlins and Yankees.
