Closures and U-turns

-

The department said a number of access ramps to State Road 84 will be closed “to ensure motorist safety and expedite reconstruction operations.”

Among the changes drivers will face, according to the department:

Motorists traveling State Road 84 westbound wishing to access I-95 southbound will be diverted along the eastbound bridge, make a U-turn at Southwest 26th Terrace, continue eastbound on State Road 84 to access the I-95 southbound entrance ramp. The I-95 southbound entrance ramp from State Road 84 eastbound will be maintained.

Motorists traveling State Road 84 eastbound wishing to access I-95 northbound will be diverted to a U-turn at Southwest 15th Avenue and continue westbound on State Road 84 to access the I-95 northbound entrance ramp. The I-95 northbound entrance ramp from State Road 84 westbound will be maintained; signage will be placed to alert motorists.

Motorists traveling on I-95 southbound wishing to access the State Road 84 eastbound ramp will be diverted to the State Road 84 westbound movement. Motorists will continue on State Road 84 westbound, make a U-turn at Southwest 26th Terrace and continue eastbound on State Road 84.

Those who are walking past the area still will have access through a temporary sidewalk, which is being constructed on the eastbound bridge, the department said.

The state sent electronic letters about the changes to public officials, police and fire departments, regulatory agencies, property and business owners and the Florida Trucking Association.

Canedo said 1,851 flyers were mailed out, “and we’re following up with doorto-door visits to local businesses and residences in the immediate area this week.”

Messaging on area highway boards began Wednesday.
