▪ Dodgers: A.J. Pollock drove in eight runs and Matt Beatty drove in seven, with both players hitting early grand slams in a startling power show that sent the Dodgers over the Brewers 16-4. Pollock homered twice and doubled, while Beaty went 4 of 6 and scored three times. Their slams came against Alec Bettinger, who gave up 11 runs in his big league debut. It was the first time in franchise history that the Dodgers had two players with at least seven RBIs in the same game. The last time it happened for any MLB team was in 2007. The last time two Dodgers hit grand slams in the same game came when Adrian Beltre and Shawn Green did it in a 12-3 victory over the Marlins in 2000. Pollock’s eight RBIs matched the highest singlegame total by any player in the history of American Family Field, which opened in April 2001 as Miller Park. He shares the record with Josh Willingham (2009) and Yasmani Grandal (2015). All three did it as visitors. Julio Urias (4-0) allowed one run and four hits in seven to earn the win. He struck out 10 and walked none . ... The Dodgers placed RHP Dustin May on the 10-day IL with an arm ailment. May (1-1) threw just 27 pitches Saturday before exiting. He will get an MRI on Monday.

▪ Blue Jays: Marcus Semien homered and drove in four runs as the Blue Jays finished off a threegame sweep of the Braves with a 7-2 win Sunday in Dunedin, Fla. George Springer left the game early with leg fatigue. “Legs felt tired, that’s how he said it,” Jays manager Charlie Montoyo said. “It was hot today.” Springer was the DH for the fourth consecutive game since making his Jays debut Wednesday. The World Series MVP when the Astros won their first title in 2017 signed a team-record six-year, $150 million deal with the Jays this offseason but missed time because of a strained oblique and later because of a right quadriceps strain. “He didn’t do anything for a long time, so we have to be careful,” Montoyo said.

▪ Cardinals: Carlos Martínez pitched eight innings, Harrison Bader hit an early three-run HR and the Cardinals blanked the host Pirates 3-0 for a threegame sweep. Martínez (2-4) was effective and efficient, allowing five hits and two walks. He struck out just three, but got 10 groundouts and three double plays.

▪ Yankees: Corey Kluber handcuffed Tigers batters to gain his 100th career win with his most dominant performance since 2018, and the host Yankees won 2-0 to complete their first series sweep and get back to .500. Kluber (2-2) looked like the pitcher who won AL Cy Young Awards with the Indians in 2014 and 2017, before injuries wrecked his 2019 and 2020 seasons. The 35-year-old right-hander allowed two hits in eight innings, walked one and struck out 10 to reach double digits for the 47th time.

▪ Extra innings: Max Scherzer tossed a five-hitter, Ryan Zimmerman hit a three-run HR and the Nationals beat the visiting Marlins 3-1. Scherzer (2-2) carried a shutout into the ninth before Isan Diaz led off with a home run. The three-time Cy Young winner struck out nine without a walk and hit a batter. It was the 12th career complete game for Scherzer, who after the 2-hour, 37-minute gem hurried to be with wife Erica for the birth of their third child. The Nats won their fourth straight . ... Andrelton Simmons and Mitch Garver homered in a seven-run third, and rookie Alex Kirillof went deep for the fourth time in three games as the host Twins routed the Royals 13-4 . ... OF Luis Robert exited the White Sox’s 5-0 loss to the visiting Indians with a strained right hip flexor.
