Pizarro named Inter Miami’s first All-Star

Continuing to make history for Inter Miami CF, midfielder Rodolfo Pizarro was named the club’s first MLS All-Star on Monday.

Pizarro will compete in the MLS All-Star Game on Wednesday at Banc of California Stadium in Los Angeles (9:30 p.m.), which will include the league’s top talents competing against Liga MX’s best players.

Also participat­ing in the MLS All-Star Skills Challenge a day earlier on Tuesday (9 p.m.), Pizzaro will be one of eight players to represent the league in a two-hour competitio­n.

The challenge will feature a team of eight MLS players facing off against eight of Liga MX’s best in five different categories.

The MLS All-Star roster is determined by a combinatio­n of fan, player and media voting (13 players), designatio­ns by

All-Star coach Bob Bradley (13 players) along with a pair of selections from league commission­er Don Garber.

Pizarro, a designated player for the club, has netted three goals in his last two matches, including two in Inter Miami’s most recent match against Toronto.

So far, the former Liga MX standout has tallied three goals and two assists this season.

He also cemented himself in club history by scoring the first goal for Inter Miami, as well as scoring the first game-winning goal in the inaugural match at DRV PNK Stadium.

Before reaching Miami, the 27-year-old Mexican native won the Liga MX Apertura and CONCACAF Champions League titles in 2019 with Monterrey. Pizarro also won the Liga MX Clausura and Copa MX Clausura titles in 2017 with C.D. Guadalajar­a, as well as the CONCACAF Champions League in 2018.
