Stewart to lead current affairs series

-

Jon Stewart is coming back to TV with the launch his new show, “The Problem with Jon Stewart,” on Sept. 30, along with a companion podcast, Apple TV+ announced Monday.

The show “is a multipleseason, single-issue series, taking a deep-dive on the most important topics that are currently part of the national conversation,” according to Apple.

“Stewart will be in discussion with the people who are impacted by the issue — as well as those who have a hand in creating the impact. Together, they will discuss tangible steps that can lead to a solutionary path forward,” the logline reads.

“The companion series podcast will extend the conversation from each episode, featuring staff members from across the show who will bring us interviews with activists in the space, the facts on the issue, and yes, lots of jokes.”

New episodes will premiere weekly. The show is Stewart’s first official return to TV since signing off from “The Daily Show” in 2015 after 16 years as its anchor.

‘View’ taking time to replace McCain:

Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin and Sara Haines will return to the table on Sept. 7 to kick off the 25th season of daytime talk show “The View,” ABC announced Monday.

But when they return from a monthlong hiatus, the seat held by Meghan McCain, who left in early August, will remain open.

ABC is “taking a little time” to fill her open position, the network said, but vowed to continue “the mission of dynamic conversations with diverse points of view.”

The show will rotate through a series of conservative

fill-ins, including former Utah Rep. Mia Love, Condoleezza Rice, Carly Fiorina, Eboni K. Williams and Gretchen Carlson.

Political commentator Ana Navarro will return, and previous hosts will appear every Friday to celebrate a quartercentury on the air.

West claims label released ‘Donda’ without his OK:

Kanye West is claiming that Universal Music Group, parent company to the label Def Jam, released his new album “Donda” without his approval. In an Instagram post Sunday — hours after “Donda” was released — West wrote: “UNIVERSAL PUT MY ALBUM OUT WITHOUT MY APPROVAL AND THEY BLOCKED JAIL 2 FROM BEING ON THE ALBUM.”

Representatives for Universal had no comment on the allegation, but sources at the company called it “preposterous.”

His mention of “JAIL 2”

refers to the track, “Jail Pt 2,” which was unavailable to stream when the album was first released Sunday morning. By afternoon, the song was available. Typically, when a song on an album is blocked from streaming on a service, it hasn’t been cleared legally because of a copyright conflict or similar issue.

The track — and its counterpart, “Jail” — has been a cause for controversy, as the former features both Marilyn Manson, who has been accused of sexual assault by several women, and DaBaby, who made headlines recently for making homophobic comments.
