Point Break Poke House and Blue Wave Sushi, West Palm Beach

The double concept restaurant stall comes from ‘Big Brother’ star Memphis Garrett. It’s an addition to the Grandview Public Market, which features a dozen vendors, live music and a full bar. Bodega Taqueria + Tequila, Aventura

This South Beach-born hotspot — equal parts fast-casual taco eatery and late-night speakeasy lounge — opened its third outpost in early August in Aventura,. Boston Beef by the Sea, Lauderdale-by-the-Sea

Like cheesestea­ks in Philadelph­ia, the humble North Shore-style roast beef sandwich is Boston’s regional specialty: a handheld piled high with thin-sliced top- or bottomroun­d, topped with some variation of cheese, barbecue sauce and mayo on a soft hoagie roll. Union Kitchen & Bar, Wilton Manors

This Peruvian and Italian neighborho­od eatery comes from chef Christie Tenaud and husband-partner Roberto Colombi, who met while working at Boca Raton Resort & Club’s now shuttered Blue. Calaveras Cantina, Boca Raton

A shrimp and calamari diablo with red chili butter and spicy lobster crema are now being served at the new Mizner Park restaurant. Grampa’s Café Bagels Deli Bakery, Dania Beach

New owners and New York bagel-shop veterans Mark Fried (Bagel Boys Café) and Marc Goldberg (Goldberg’s Famous Bagels) have rebranded this 64-year-old bakery — closed since the beginning of the pandemic — as a New York-style deli serving New York water bagels, rugelach, housemade corned-beef brisket and other diner classics. Vincent Maurin and his family left Bordeaux, France, to open this new wine bar in the Galt Ocean Mile. Tucked inside the new oceanside Cambria Hotel Fort Lauderdale Beach, Gesaria is part eatery, part lobby bar. Maple Street Biscuit Company, Pembroke Pines

Biscuit-based creations, as the name implies, are the big attraction at this Jacksonvil­le-born fast-casual chain bought by Cracker Barrel in 2019. Troy’s Barbecue, West Palm Beach

Boynton Beach’s iconic roadside stand for 25 years will debut its second location (after its longtime flagship in Boynton Beach) on Sept. 24 at this former auto-body shop, serving beef brisket and rib combo dinner plates, pulled-pork sandwiches and meats by-the-pound. Owner Anthony Barber’s food truck will be parked next to an historic home that will offer indoor dining and patio seating. Fogo de Chão, Fort Lauderdale

Founded in southern Brazil in 1979, the steakhouse is opening its fifth Florida location at The Main Las Olas early next year. Owners say the restaurant brings the centuries-old cooking technique of churrasco — roasting prime cuts of meat over an open flame. Old School Philly Cheesestea­ks, Pompano Beach

It’s the guilty pleasure of cheesestea­ks with Cheez Whiz as one of the toppings. The Boca Raton eatery is expanding, replacing a former Subway across the street from the Pompano AirPark. Cali Coffee, Pembroke Pines and beyond

The Broward County-based, drive-thru coffee company is quickly expanding since opening its Hollywood flagship in 2018. The plan is to open four additional locations throughout Broward by 2023 starting with Pembroke Pines in early 2022, then Miramar, Coconut Creek and a second location in Cooper City. Their signature coffees including “breves” (an espresso based drink made with half-and-half milk) come hot, iced or frozen. Dvash Mediterran­ean Fusion, Boca Raton

The family behind Falafel Bistro & Wine Bar in Coral Springs will open Dvash Mediterran­ean Fusion in Lakeside Centre. Dvash is Hebrew for honey, which figures not only into the design of the restaurant but also in the cuisine that uses honey as a natural sweetener. The menu will have some of the same dishes as Falafel Bistro, but the Dvash kitchen will also reflect the family’s love of sharing plates, tapas style. Local Seoul Asian Kitchen, Boca Raton

Gary Rack’s newest venture aims to take you on “a walk through Asia” in east Boca Raton. The 1,100-square-foot restaurant will seat only 22 people, but the goal is also to attract take-out lovers. The concept is chef-driven with health-conscious ingredient­s similar to Rack’s other restaurant­s, such as Farmhouse Boca. Tacocraft Taqueria and Tequila Bar, Plantation

Expanding Tulum vibes into west Broward, this Mexican-themed eatery’s fourth location is set to open inside the new Plantation Walk complex, a mixed-use renovation of the old Fashion Mall. Ramen Lab Eatery, West Boca

This will be the third Palm Beach location specializi­ng in ramen and other bowl concepts including donburi and poke bowls. Sushi Maki, Fort Lauderdale

For entreprene­ur Abe Ng, what began as his father’s Chinese takeout empire is now a thriving dynasty of sushi houses, the latest of which will debut this fall inside the former Beehive Kitchen on Las Olas. The 2,500-squarefoot Sushi Maki will feature poke bowls, sushi boats, pad Thai and wok-fried rice. Throw Social, Delray Beach

A 12,000-square-foot entertainm­ent village on Delray Beach’s Atlantic Avenue will open this September inside former clubby Italian grill il Bacio. Asbury Ale House, Fort Lauderdale

Owner Matt Gullace will expand his New Jersey-born gastropub into its second location this October on the ground floor of hip residentia­l tower Society Las Olas, and feature a menu of coal-fired pizzas, burgers and the Drunken Bite (or drunken pasta that is Italian-breaded, deep-fried and dipped in vodka sauce). Miso Japanese Tapas, Fort Lauderdale

Chef Thuan Lam, best known for creating Phat Boy Sushi & Kitchen, will open his newest venture in December in a recently remodeled, multi-tenant building on Progresso Drive. Miso will cross-pollinate Japanese and Latin cuisine in small plates. Mitch’s Downtown Bagel Café, Fort Lauderdale

A self-avowed “old school” New York-style deli with a website that cheekily proclaims, “no bearded hipster baristas here,” Mitch’s nonetheles­s will debut in September in hipsterfie­d Flagler Village. Pagoda Kitchen, Delray Beach

Decorated restaurate­ur Burt Rapoport (Max’s Grille, Deck 84, Prezzo) is behind this new restaurant opening this October at Delray Marketplac­e. Billed as “home-style Chinese cuisine,” and inspired by the pan-Asian travels of chef Bryan S. Bruno’s Eats, Fort Lauderdale

Owners Bruno “Chef Max” Maxino and Peggy Ann Blain, who’ve been a food-truck power couple since 2013 — especially in Flagler Village — will open their first storefront on Fort Lauderdale’s buzzy 13th Street. Dishes, which mash up Haitian, Jamaican, Latin American and New York street-food influences, include the griot burrito stuffed with pulled pork, red and green peppers, mushroom rice and secret sauces.

Mickey’s Dueling Piano Bar and Grill, Lauderdale-by-the-Sea

New owners Michael Josephs and Luis Linares have rebranded the former Beef ‘N Reef Steakhouse, which opened a month before the pandemic and shuttered in May, into this dueling piano bar. Truli Italian Food & Drink, Coconut Creek

This modern Italian trattoria and bar will debut in late September inside the Promenade at Coconut Creek, replacing the former Ciao Cucina space that shuttered this spring. Batch New Southern Kitchen and Tap, Fort Lauderdale

Flagler Village will be home to a second location, after West Palm Beach, of the restaurant serving Southern favorites, craft cocktails and an “epic brunch party.” The 5,500 square-foot restaurant with an outdoor patio will open in the former location of Mellow Mushroom. The locally sourced farm-totable, comfort food menu includes slow-smoked burnt ends, shrimp n’ grits and a BBQ jackfruit “pulled pork” sandwich. Marco’s Top Burgers, Pompano Beach

Marco and Ana Paula’s sandwich food truck has graduated into its first storefront in Pompano Beach’s Whispering Lakes office park, taking over the space once occupied by Cuban restaurant It’s a Cubano B. Circle House Coffee, Oakland Park

Char-Hut, Fort Lauderdale

Juicy charbroile­d burgers are no more at this Fort Lauderdale Char-Hut franchise, which shuttered in August after seven years in the Northridge Shopping Center. Like its sister Char-Huts in Davie, Pembroke Pines and Tamarac (all still open), this outpost offered chuckand brisket-blended burgers flipped on the

grill in front of customers’ eyes, and served on a soft, poppy-seed Kaiser roll with a blanket of white American cheese. The remaining Char-Huts are still owned by Michael and Tony Cammisa, whose father Joe opened the first in 1976. 753 E. Commercial Blvd.; OrderCharH­ut.com

Ally’s Comfort Café, Sunrise

This café-diner dishing sandwiches, soups, burgers, cinnamon-roll pancakes and other belly-warming breakfasts has closed its Sunrise outpost, according to Ally’s website. “Please note: We recently sold our Sunrise location. We would like to thank our loyal customers!” reads a pop-up message on the café’s homepage. Owner Ally Perfecto’s namesake diner also featured a kid’s corner filled with coloring books and a book nook for adults to peruse over coffee. Gyro Express, Wilton Manors

A bright, airy restaurant painted in the colors of Greece’s flag (blue and white), this short-lived eatery and drive-thru that replaced the former Bar-B-Q Jack’s closed in July. Gyro Express carried a short, fast-casual menu of souvlaki, veggie and chicken pita platters, lamb kebabs and lemon potatoes. 500 E. Oakland Park Blvd.

PDQ, Fort Lauderdale The three-lettered restaurant chain devoted to chicken tenders, fries, salads and hand-spun shakes closed its Fort Lauderdale location in August. Fort Lauderdale native and Outback Steakhouse co-founder Tim Gannon expanded the Tampa-born PDQ to Fort Lauderdale in 2014. PDQ, which removed the 17th Street eatery from its website, has many South Florida locations left spanning South Miami to West Palm Beach. 1207 SE 17th St.; EatPDQ.com

Mod Wine Lounge, Fort Lauderdale

This throwback wine hangout that since 2015 channeled the mod vibes of the ‘60s has permanentl­y closed next door to the Classic Gateway Theatre. Co-owner Chad Thilborger’s retro lounge featured light-blue chairs from the Fontainebl­eau Miami Beach, along with charcuteri­e boards, rum cake and craft beer. 1828 E. Sunrise Blvd.

GoGai, Hollywood

The bao bun, rice bowl and fried chicken offspring of ramen hub GoBistro three doors down, GoGai lasted two years in downtown Hollywood before shutting this summer. GoGai, from GoBistro partners Andrew Gong, Joao Da Silva and Niti Masintapan, dished a short menu of chicken-and-rice bowls, sweet chili-fried wings and Thai shaved ice. 2051 Hollywood Blvd., Suite A

Nick’s New Haven Style Pizzeria & Bar, Coral Springs

Open since 2014 and known for its white clam pies and hand-built brick ovens, Nick’s shuttered its Coral Springs outpost in the Royal University Shopping Plaza in August. An asset sale on Facebook listed the lease for the 5,200-square-foot eatery and 2,000-square-foot patio. The original Nick’s in Boca Raton remains open. 2444 N.
