Team offers NIL deals to all female athletes at FAU

- By Brett Shweky

The Florida Panthers are continuing their support of college athletes, revealing Wednesday that the team has offered a firstof-its-kind NIL (name, image and likeness) contract to every female athlete at FAU.

As part of the endorsement, over 200 female athletes at FAU are invited to attend Panthers games and engage their local fanbase through social media posts. The FAU female athletes are welcomed to apply to the “FLA Athlete” program through the Panthers’ NIL partner, Dreamfield, with the new agreement.

FAU women’s athletics offers basketball, beach volleyball, cross country, golf, soccer, softball, spirit, swimming and diving, tennis, track and field and volleyball. Each athlete will receive a t-shirt to show support for the partnership.

The Panthers will become the first professional sports team to sponsor an entire collegiate women’s athletic program.

“I think it’s historic,” FAU vice president and director of athletics Brian White said.

“I think it’s very innovative by the Florida Panthers. The first I heard about it, I was blown away and just excited about it. I hope that it happens every[where] around the country. I hope it starts a new trend, I really do. I love that our female student-athletes were able to be the trendsetters along with the Florida Panthers.”

Miami Hurricanes quarterback D’Eriq King became the first “FLA Athlete” member in August and is a co-founder of Dreamfield Sports, which is a NIL-based platform aimed at booking live events and creating marketing campaigns for collegiate athletes and brands.

The Panthers recently became the first U.S. major professional sports team and the first in the NHL to launch a program that offers college athletes the opportunity to profit from their name, image and likeness.
