Western’s Hurst tosses 5 TDs in win over Stoneman Douglas
Western junior quarterback Collin Hurst led the way for the Wildcats in the first round of the playoffs last week.
Hurst completed 13 of 18 passes for 273 yards and five touchdowns as the Wildcats won their Class 8A regional quarterfinals matchup against Stoneman Douglas 43-7.

Ahmad Haston | Palm Beach Central
The junior quarterback threw for more than 350 yards and four scores in a 41-9 win over Port St. Lucie Centennial in the Class 8A regional quarterfinal.
Anthony Hankerson | St. Thomas Aquinas
Hankerson rushed for 108 yards and three touchdowns on 15 carries as the Raiders beat Atlantic, 43-7, in the Class 7A regional quarterfinals.
Garrison Kepley | Glades Central
The senior quarterback was 16 of 20 for 306 yards passing with three touchdowns in a 34-20 win over American Heritage-Delray in the Class 4A regional quarterfinals.
Sincere Rodriguez | Stranahan
Rodriguez, a junior running back, ran for 220 yards and two scores on 24 carries as the Mighty Dragons beat Estero, 22-7.
Darius Thomas | Miramar
The Patriots’ senior safety led the team with 13 tackles in their win over Doral Academy in the Class 7A regional quarterfinals.
Dylan Wilkins | Glades Day
The senior quarterback was 11 of 15 for 221 yards and three touchdowns in a 38-0 victory over Westminster
Academy in the Class 2A regional quarterfinals.
Maurice Lapierre | Plantation
Lapierre notched eight tackles and three sacks as Plantation beat Fort Myers Dunbar in the Class 6A regional quarterfinals. Armani Norcius | Dillard The Panthers’ quarterback completed 11 for 16 for 158 yards and two touchdowns as Dillard beat Fort Lauderdale 42-0 in the Class 7A regional quarterfinals. Julian Lewis | Western The Western senior wide receiver had five catches for 124 yards and three touchdowns in the Wildcats’ win. Two of those touchdowns were in short-yardage situations where he made catches over close defenders.
Collin Bender | Boca Raton
The junior wide receiver hauled in a 74-yard touchdown pass freshman quarterback Teddy Hoffman for the lone score in the Bobcats’ Class 8A regional quarterfinal loss to Deerfield Beach.
Brandon Inniss | American Heritage
Inniss, filling in at quarterback for the Patriots, completed two of three passes for 126 yards and two touchdowns in Heritage’s 42-14 win over Boynton Beach in the Class 5A regional quarterfinals.
Dmitry Peters | Forest Hill
The senior athlete ran for 73 yards, threw for 64 yards passing in the Falcons’ Class 8A regional quarterfinal loss to Vero Beach.
Gaskin | AtlanticFredrick
The senior wide receiver scored the lone touchdown for the Eagles in a 43-7 loss to St. Thomas Aquinas in the Class 7A regional quarterfinals.
Zion Turner | St. Thomas Aquinas
Turner completed 6 of 13 passes for 128 yards against Atlantic, but he made his biggest impact on the ground, rushing for 40 yards and two touchdowns.
Sebastian Christian | Seminole Ridge
The sophomore running back ran for 26 yards and a score in a 41-7 loss to Melbourne in the Class 7A regional quarterfinals. Eric Lyons | Plantation Lyons, a senior safety, had six tackles and an interception in Plantation’s 44-20 win over Dunbar.
Nicolas Amunategui | Pine Crest
Amunategui, a senior running back, rushed for 140 yards and a touchdown on 23 carries as the Panthers beat Miami LaSalle, 10-7, in the Class 4A regional quarterfinals.
Markel King | Palm Beach Central
The senior running back ran for 125 yards and added 70 receiving yards in the Broncos’ win.
Claudel Bazile | Miramar
Bazile had eight tackles and three tackles for loss in the Patriots’ first-round victory.
Omar Graham Jr. | Stranahan
Graham, a senior FSU commit, had six rushes for 56 yards and a score. At linebacker, he had eight tackles, three sacks, two tackles for loss and a forced fumble.
Shaborne Demps | Glades Central
The junior wide receiver hauled in four receptions for 146 yards and two touchdowns in Glades Central’s playoff win.
Jarvins Joseph | Western
Joseph, a senior defensive lineman, had 11 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and a fumble recovery in the Wildcats’ win.
Jenorris Wilcher | Glades Day
The sophomore wide receiver accounted for 212 yards and two touchdowns in Glades Day’s first-round win.
Carl Anderson | Plantation
Anderson had eight tackles and two sacks as the Colonels won their first-round playoff game.
Devaughn Mortimer | Dillard
Mortimer had four catches for 90 yards and two touchdowns in the Panthers’ win.
Jerrius Chavers | Forest Hill
The junior running back carried 10 times for 42 yards and a score in the Falcons’ loss.
Percy Courtney | Western
Courtney continued his strong season on Friday, racking up six tackles, two tackles for loss and two sacks in Western’s win over Stoneman Douglas.
Michael Renoit | St. Thomas Aquinas
Renoit had three tackles, a sack and a forced fumble as he helped the Raiders hold Atlantic to seven points in the Class 7A regional quarterfinals.
Imari Milton | Miramar Milton had nine tackles and one tackle for loss in Miramar’s win over Doral Academy.

The senior outside linebacker contributed 13 tackles, including three tackles for losses, and an interception in Palm Beach Central’s playoff win.
