Seminoles’ spring game set for April 15
Florida State hopes to capitalize on momentum when the Seminoles host their annual Garnet and Gold spring football game on April 15.
FSU is coming off a 10-3 campaign — its best season since 2016 — with the program already receiving a lot of preseason hype heading into 2023.
The game is scheduled to kick off at 4 p.m. and will air on ACCNX, the network’s digital platform on the ESPN app. It’s one of nine ACC spring games featured on the network that Saturday. More information about the spring game and spring camp will be available at a later date.
It will be the third spring game for coach Mike Norvell, who missed his first one in 2020 when the game was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Florida State finished in the top 20 in both total offense (484 yards per game) and total defense (321.8 yards per game), with the Seminoles returning more than a dozen starters led by quarterback Jordan Travis. Travis put together a career season that saw him total 3,631 yards of total offense with 32 total touchdowns.
Joining Travis are running back Trey Benson, receivers Johnny Wilson and Mycah Pittman, offensive linemen Maurice Smith and Robert Scott, edge rusher Jared Verse and linebackers Kalen DeLoach and Tatum Bethune.
Along with the returning starters, Florida State signed the No. 20 recruiting class with 24 prospects. Eighteen of those players are early enrollees, including transfers TE Jaheim Bell (South Carolina), TE Kyle Morlock (Shorter), OL Jeremiah Byers (UTEP), OL Keiondre Jones (Auburn), OL Casey Roddick (Colorado), DL Braden Fiske (Western Michigan), DL Darrell Jackson Jr. (Miami), DL Gilber Edmond (South Carolina) and DB Fentrell Cypress (Virginia).
FSU opens the season against LSU at Camping World Stadium on Sept. 3.
