Coach Don Shula taken to hospital

Family expects recovery after breathing issues

Legendary Dolphins coach Don Shula has been hospitaliz­ed because of breathing issues.

Shula, who owns the NFL’s alltime wins record, was taken to Aventura Hospital & Medical Center on Monday evening.

According to his wife, Mary Anne Shula, the 86-year-old was taken to the hospital due to fluid retention and sleep apnea, a disorder that disrupts breathing during sleep.

“The family is looking for a speedy recovery,” Mary Anne Shula said Tuesday.

Don Shula is being kept in the hospital for observatio­n as a precaution. According to his family, he is alert and in good spirits.
