Police arrest dad accused of arson that killed teen

Police say a man accused of setting a suburban Atlanta, Ga. home on fire that killed his teenage stepdaught­er has been arrested in Broward County.

Cobb County police spokesman Sgt. Dana Pierce tells the Atlanta JournalCon­stitution that 37-year-old Defareya Hunter was arrested Friday in the July 23 fatal fire. Hunter’s stepdaught­er was found dead at a home in Marietta, Ga

Hunter is being held at the Broward County Jail, and awaiting extraditio­n back to Cobb County. Police did not say how Hunter got to Florida.

Hunter is charged with murder, aggravated assault, arson and cruelty to children charges.

Fire crew members helped a teenage boy escape the fire.

Court documents show a history of domestic violence.
