Swamp festival: The sixth annual Big Cypress Swamp Heritage Festival at the Big Cypress National Preserve Welcome Center on U.S. Highway 41 in Ochopee is 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday. The free family friendly event looks at those who first settled in South Florida features a variety of speakers, exhibitors and demonstrat­ions of people and organizati­ons tied to the Big Cypress. Operation Sailfish: The first leg in the Quest for the Crest Sailfish Sailfish is Operation Sailfish Dec. 9-10 out of Sailfish Marina in Palm Beach Shores and Riviera Beach Marina. Kickoff party and final registrati­on are 6-10 p.m. Wednesday at Sailfish Marina. Entry fee is $4,500 per team. Visit bluewaterm­ovements.com or call 954-725-4010. Sailfish results: Luis Coll’s Utopia caught and released 11 sailfish fishing out of Boca Raton Inlet to top a fleet of 45 boats and win the Dust’em Off Sailfish Warmup that was held Nov. 12. Utopia earned $37,550. Fragrant Harbor was second with six releases to win $17,950 and Old No. 7/Pro Payroll was third, also with six, to win $10,750. Top Gun/No Limit won the charter boat division with four sails, followed by Lemieux Charters with three and L&H with three. Nick Perez of Little Bird caught a 27.8-pound kingfish to win $7,000 for the largest fun fish.
