Fraternity member arrested after kid porn found on PC
A 20-year-old University of Central Florida student was arrested Thursday morning after investigators found child porn on his computer during a raid of his fraternity house.
Kevin Estrada, a junior mechanical engineering major, faces 10 charges of possessing child pornography after agents from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement discovered sexually explicit photos and videos depicting children, according to an arrest report.
The boys and girls seen in the images appeared to be between 7 and 10 years old, according to the report.
About 9:45 a.m. Thursday, FDLE agents served a search warrant on the Zeta Beta Tau fraternity where Estrada lives. The computer containing the illegal files was found in Estrada’s bedroom, according to the report.
FDLE agents searched the room in the 12100 block of Darwin Drive following a nearly three-month investigation, according to the report.
Estrada was home during the execution of the search warrant, and was arrested after the files were discovered on his computer, the report said. He was booked into the Orange County Jail on a $2,350 bond, said jail spokeswoman Tracy Zampaglione.
Estrada bonded out of jail Thursday about 5:40 p.m.
UCF spokesman Chad Binette said federal student privacy laws prohibit the disclosure of disciplinary action against specific students. However, he said the school’s student conduct process “includes the ability to immediately suspend students on an interim basis.”
“The allegations in this case are despicable,” Binette said.
Laurence A. Bolotin, Zeta Beta Tau’s executive director, said Friday that Estrada was expelled from the fraternity, per the group’s “zero-tolerance policy regarding illegal activities.”
