FORT LAUDERDALE — A man has been arrested in an incident that police said led two officers to fire guns in a busy McDonald’s parking lot at lunchtime.

Deonte Delisser, 20, is one of two men who bolted from a silver Ford Fusion that officers approached Monday at a McDonald’s at 2300 W. Sunrise Blvd., Fort Lauderdale police said.

The Ford, which police say was stolen in Palm Beach County, held three men: A driver, Delisser and another passenger, a Fort Lauderdale police spokesman said.

Delisser ran from the front passenger seat and dropped a loaded firearm to the ground. Ignoring orders to stop, he jumped over a

wall along the restaurant parking lot and kept running south, according to a police report.

Officers found him about seven blocks away in the 2200 block of Northwest Eighth Court, police said.

The other passenger who ran away and the driver have not been named, and police on Friday said no additional arrests have been made.

The driver is accused of steering the Ford into a police officer before traveling west for a time in the eastbound lanes of Sunrise Boulevard, the agency said.

The officer was taken to Broward Health Medical Center to be treated for minor injuries, police said.

Citing the open investigation, Detective Tracy Figone on Friday would not name the two officers who fired their guns.

The Ford, with a gun inside, was found Monday about a mile north of the restaurant, abandoned in the 2800 block of Northwest Fifteenth Court, police said.

Delisser, who has addresses in Kissimmee and West Palm Beach listed in court documents, was arrested on charges that include resisting an officer without violence, carrying a concealed firearm and violating probation.

He’s being held without bond at a Broward County jail.
