Video captures road rage
Andre Addison said he had a feeling that something was about to happen when he saw the driver of a silver minivan shaking his fist at another motorist in a white SUV headed west along Pembroke Road. So he pulled out his cellphone.
“I thought he was going to pull out a gun,” said Addison, 33, who owns atmslocator.com, a company that serves banks. “He was swerving, he was shouting. The guy was bullying him. It was like he was trying to make the other [motorist] hit him.”
The unidentified driver of the white SUV, which was behind the minivan, had honked the horn when the light changed Friday afternoon. Addison took cellphone video of the minivan driver weaving and yelling at the motorist moments before rear-ending a school bus, causing a chainreaction crash Friday afternoon.
The minivan’s driver was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital with a leg fracture after the 4:30 p.m. crash in the 6800 block of Pembroke Road. Another driver was slightly hurt. Four South Broward High School students inside the bus were not hurt, a police spokeswoman said.
Addison said that before the crash, he pulled up to the white SUV and asked whether the motorist knew the other driver.
“He said, ‘I don’t know that guy, he’s probably on something,’ ” Addison recalled.
Thirty seconds later, he saw smoke billowing up the road.
“I said, ‘I’m going to bet you that’s the guy,’ ” he said.
