Fish regulation­s: New rules take effect Jan.1 for several saltwater species. The mutton snapper minimum size limit will be 18 inches, and the recreation­al bag limit will be five fish per person within the 10-fish snapper aggregate bag limit in state waters. There will be a recreation­al and commercial slot limit of 15 to 36 inches fork length for barracuda in state and federal waters off Collier, Monroe, Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach and Martin counties. Bass tournament: The Everglades Bassmaster­s of South Florida has a One Largemouth Bass Open Tournament, Hangover Edition, Jan. 1 on Lake Okeechobee out of Roland Martin’s Marina in Clewiston. Registrati­on starts at 6 a.m. at the bait shop. Fishing is 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Entry fee is $20 per person, and boats can have as many anglers as they can legally carry. Payback is 100 percent.
