South Florida schools’ winter break is almost here, and there are plenty of diversions to keep families busy during the twoweek vacation.

Here are some of the top attractions for families in South Florida throughout the winter holidays. Miami International Children’s Film Festival

Dec. 24-29. Families can enjoy premieres of new films from around the world, parties, hands-on workshops for children, meet-the-filmmakers events and more. Family Fun on the Plaza is scheduled Dec. 24-25 in front of the Gables Cinema with face-painting, balloon animals, live music, food and more. Through Jan. 3. Explore the world of our inner microorganisms through interactive and bilingual exhibits and discover who our constant microbial companions are, where they live, how diverse they are, and how important they are to our personal health.
