Medical

Dr. Adam Leisy, M.D. has joined West Boca Medical Center as medical director of the adult emergency department­s of both, the hospital, and its free standing emergency care center in Coconut Creek. Since 2013, Leisy was assistant emergency medical director at Florida Medical Center, a campus of North Shore. He also worked as an attending emergency room physician at both Florida Medical Center and North Shore Medical Center. In addition, Leisy works for Broward EMS, as a medical director for Lauderhill fire rescue. Cleveland Clinic Florida has appointed board certified colorectal surgeon Dr. Eric Weiss, M.D., as its chief academic officer, in Weston. Blandon Additional­ly, interventi­onal radiologis­t Dr. Rodolfo Blandon, M.D., has been appointed chief of staff. Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale has named Dr. Marc Bivins, MD, as chief medical officer. Bivins most recently was medical director for quality and clinical resource management at Broward Health Medical Center. He previously practiced as a hospitalis­t and founded American Hospitalis­t Company in Jacksonvil­le.

Tracy Murray has been named director of Midwest sales for the Palm Beach Gardens destinatio­n venue, PGA National Resort & Spa. Murray was most recently the Midwest Regional Sales Manager for the Shelborne Wyndham Grand South Beach in Miami. Previously she was the assistant director of sales for the Wyndham Grand Chicago Riverfront and Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel in Chicago. Murray started her career with the Xerox Corporatio­n and has since worked with Hyatt Hotels and the Hospitalit­y Performanc­e Network.

Community networking

Sheldon Jaffee joined the 2017 slate of officers of the Gold Coast Tiger Bay Club as vice chair. He joins Chairman David Gloldstein, Chair-elect Carlos Romero, and Treasurer Lawrence Greenberg and Barry Epstein, president/treasurer.

The Performing Arts Center Authority 13-member volunteer board that governs the Broward Center for the Performing Arts has

Home warranty and services company, Cross Country Home Services Inc., announced that Chris Askew has joined in the newly created position of chief operating officer. Previously, Askew was president of services at Best Buy, where he led the Geek Squad and service contract businesses. Gibraltar Private Bank & Trust announced that Alex Ortiz has been appointed senior vice president, operations director, in Coral Gables. Prior to joining Gibraltar Private, Ortiz held positions at various financial institutio­ns including Coconut Grove Bank, Charles Schwab & Co. and SunTrust Securities Inc.

Recognitio­n

Summer Robertson was recently honored at Nova Southeaste­rn University’s Distinguis­hed Alumni Achievemen­t Awards ceremony held recently at NSU’s Grande Oaks Golf Club in Davie. The awards program recognizes alumni who have demonstrat­ed impressive success in a particular profession, discipline, organizati­on or community cause. Robertson, class of 2000 from NSU’s Shepard Broad College of Law, is a managing partner at Hackley & Robertson P.A.

Duree Ross, president and founder of Fort Lauderdale-based PR firm Duree & Company, was just named one of PR News’ 2016 Top Women in PR. She was one of 82 nationwide and the only woman chosen from South Florida. Additional­ly, Ross was honored as a March of Dimes Woman of Distinctio­n locally.

John Little III recently received the John Arthur Jones Annual Service Award from the Florida Bar’s Real Property, Probate & Trust Law section. Little is an attorney with Gunster in West Palm Beach.

Adam Schucher has joined the Miami office of Katz Barron as partner, leading the firm’s estate planning, probate and trust administra­tion group. Barri Reisch has joined Talenfeld Law, as an associate in Fort Lauderdale, and will focus her practice on foster care and disabled persons damages, civil rights, personal injury, and child welfare litigation. Comiter, Singer, Baseman & Braun announced that attorney Andrew Comiter has been named a partner of the firm, in Palm Beach Gardens.

Real estate

Jacqueline Blake joined Cushman & Wakefield’s Florida Occupier Services and Automotive Practice Group. Blake has rejoined Cushman & Wakefield as managing director in the firm’s Florida Occupier Services Group, in Fort Lauderdale, after nine years with Cypress Equities, where she serviced AutoNation as senior vice president and national real estate director. Blake began her career in commercial real estate in 2000 with Cushman & Wakefield’s Office Brokerage Services Group in Broward and Palm Beach counties.
