Purdue snaps Wisconsin’s streak

-

Caleb Swanigan had 18 points and 13 rebounds to help No. 20 Purdue get past No. 13 Wisconsin 66-55 on Sunday in West Lafayette, Ind., ending the Badgers’ nine-game winning streak.

The Boilermakers (14-3, 3-1 Big Ten) have won nine of 10 overall and three straight in the series.

Ethan Happ had 17 points and Nigel Hayes had 10 for Wisconsin (13-3, 2-1).

Purdue used a 12-0 run midway in the second half to take control.

Allen still under scrutiny:

Duke star Grayson Allen has played two games since returning from his suspension for tripping an opponent, but he is back under scrutiny again.

After No. 8 Duke’s 93-82 win against Boston College on Saturday, the ACC released a statement saying, “there is nothing conclusive that can be determined as to whether Allen intentionally made contact with an Eagles player using his leg or foot.”

The play occurred in the first half when Allen extended his left leg while trying to fight through a screen set by Boston College’s Connar Tava.

No call was made during the game, so no action is expected from the ACC.

Kentucky lands Diallo:

Five-star shooting guard Hamidou Diallo announced he will enroll at Kentucky next week.

While Diallo will enroll immediately, he is likely to redshirt the spring semester and play as a freshman in the 2017-18 season. He is the second five-star prospect in the 2017 class to enroll early in college, although Austin Wiley enrolled at Auburn in December and played immediately for the Tigers.

Diallo chose Kentucky over Connecticut, Arizona, Syracuse, Indiana and Kansas.

Butler grounded:

Butler’s team spent the night in Washington, D.C., after a mechanical issue Saturday grounded its charter flight back to Indianapolis.

The team tweeted a statement that read: “The team never boarded our flight this evening. Mechanical issue has grounded the plane for tonight. We will fly home in the morning.”

The No. 18 Bulldogs defeated Georgetown, 85-76.
