U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 54 has a one-day safe boating course from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Harvey Oyer Park in Boynton Beach. Topics include boat handling, safety equipment, docking, line handling and knot tying as well as running in foul weather, rules of the road, basic navigation and new federal and state laws. The new reduced cost is $20 for adults, $10 for ages 14-18 and free for those under 14 attending with a paid adult. The cost for three or more adults is $50 maximum. A textbook costs $10. Snook season opens at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday in Atlantic waters from the Miami-Dade/Monroe county line north and runs through May 31. Anglers can keep one snook per day 28-32 inches total length.
