Authorities ID three slain in Jupiter shooting

- WPEC-CBS 12 and Staff report

Police in Jupiter say investigators have identified a person of interest in the slaying of three people.

Jupiter police answering a call of shots fired about 10:30 p.m. Sunday along the 1100 block of Mohawk Street found three people who had been fatally shot, police said.

Police identified the victims as Kelli Doherty, 20, of Tequesta, Brandi El-Salhy, 24, of Gainesville and Sean Henry, 25, of Jupiter.

Police Chief Frank Kitzerow said Monday morning that investigators believe the three people were targeted and that the shooting was not a random act. They have also identified a person of interest, he said.

Jupiter and Palm Beach Gardens Police were also investigating a car in the southbound lanes of Interstate 95, near Northlake Boulevard. The car, which was empty when it was found, matches the description of a vehicle authorities were searching for in connection to the shooting and police believe the car is related to the crime.

Police were also evacuating homes Monday morning on Mohawk Street after the discovery of a suspicious package. A bomb squad investigated and determined the package was safe. Residents were later allowed back into their homes.

Whether the package is connected to the killings wasn’t immediately known.

The shooting and suspicious package also caused Jupiter High School to be placed on lockdown.

The neighborhood where the shooting took place is east of Interstate 95 and south of W. Indiantown Road.

Numerous investigators from Jupiter police were at the scene of the shooting during the overnight hours.

Police initially asked residents of the area to stay inside their homes. By shortly after 7 a.m., however, investigators didn’t think that was necessary any longer.

“All streets in the area have been checked by officers and there’s no indication of a suspect(s) in the area,” Jupiter police said in an email.

The email further indicated that a school in the area, Jupiter Christian School, would stay closed Monday.

Jupiter police urge anyone with information about this incident to contact the department at 561-746-6201 or call Crime Stoppers of Palm Beach County, anonymously, at 800-458-8477.
