Candlelight vigil for 3 victims of shooting

- By WPEC-CBS12 and Sun-Sentinel staff

Three young people who were shot and killed at a home in Jupiter were remembered Tuesday night along the shore in Juno Beach as several dozen people gathered for a candlelight vigil.

Jupiter police, meanwhile, say a fourth person was also shot Sunday night at the home along the 1000 block of Mohawk Street.

The three people found fatally shot, according to police are Kelli Doherty, 20, of Tequesta, Brandi El-Salhy, 24, of Gainesville, and Sean Henry, 25, of Jupiter.

During the vigil, those gathered watched a Chinese lantern slowly float away into the night and wondered why the three were killed.

Andrew Chambers, who said he was a close friend of Henry’s, said it’s beautiful to have moments like these during a time of tragedy.

“It’s important to come together as a community and to remember that we’re all in this together,” he said.

He described Henry as a great person and role model to others.

Earlier Tuesday, Jupiter police addressed reporters to update the investigation into the killings. Police Chief Frank Kitzerow said investigators have identified a person of interest in the case, but so far no arrests have been announced.

Kitzerow also said a fourth person was wounded in the shooting and was found in a nearby neighborhood.

That person, whose identity has not been released, is being treated for several gunshot wounds at a local hospital and has been unable to talk due to his injuries.

Kitzerow expects detectives to finish processing the crime scene by around noon Wednesday.

“I’m confident that we’re going to bring this case to a successful conclusion,” he said. “In the meantime, we’re going to make sure our community stays safe.”

He said several leads have been developed in the investigation and encourages anyone with information to call his department at 561-746-6201 or call Crime Stoppers of Palm Beach County, anonymously, at 800-458-8477.
