Sailfish tournament: The Sailfish Challenge, the third leg of the Quest for the Crest Sailfish Series, is Feb. 24-25. Boats can check in their catches at Sailfish Marina inside Lake Worth Inlet, Hillsboro Inlet Park in Pompano Beach and Miami Beach Marina inside Government Cut. The entry fee is $1,584. Last year Jichi released 18 sailfish in two days to win $163,460. Final registrati­on is Feb. 22 at Bokamper’s Sports Bar & Grill in Fort Lauderdale. Bass Pro Shops in Dania Beach and other South Florida stores have the annual Spring Fishing Classic Feb. 17-March 5. Activities include seminars and fishing workshops for kids. Customers can donate used rods and reels, which will be given to local nonprofit groups, and receive discounts on new tackle. Visit basspro.com/classic.

The Islamorada Winter Classic team event is Feb. 25-26. Eligible species are sailfish, barracuda, dolphin, grunt, wahoo, tuna, mackerel, hogfish and snapper. Teams of up to six anglers per boat, either guided or unguided, are scored on five releases of each of the eligible species per day. One fish per species can be weighed per team per day and the largest weight fish wins that species. Awards will go to adults, teens (ages 13-19) and juniors (12 and younger) for the most releases daily and overall. The kickoff party is Feb. 24 at the Lorelei Cabana Bar & Marina. Entry fees are $125 for adults, $100 for teens and $25 for juniors. The price rises $25 after Sunday. To register, visit islamorada­classic.com.
