Ticket alert: Metallica in SoFla
Hard-rock titans Metallica will perform July 7 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens on a North American tour announced Monday in support of the album “Hardwired … To SelfDestruct.”
Tickets will cost $55.50-$155.50 and are scheduled to go on sale 10 a.m. Friday at all Ticketmaster outlets, including Ticketmaster.com and by calling 800-745-3000. A variety of fan-club and VIP-package presales begin at 9 a.m. Tuesday.
The Live Nation-produced tour, which opens May 10 in Baltimore, includes a July 5 stop at Camping World Stadium in Orlando. Opening acts are Avenged Sevenfold and Volbeat.
Last seen on Sunday night’s Grammy Awards telecast in a thundering throwback performance that was only slightly wounded by a distracting duet with Lady Gaga (Tony Bennett was busy), Metallica will be making its first proper North American tour since 2009.
All ticket purchases for the new tour come with a digital or physical copy of “Hardwired … To SelfDestruct,” which debuted at No. 1 in November and prompted a wave of critical praise for its balance of legacy and ambition.
The tour includes a charitable component through Metallica’s new All Within My Hands Foundation, which will raise funds to support a variety of national and local charities, including music-education programs and food banks. At each stop on the tour, Metallica will raise money for the foundation with prizes that include backstage passes, pit passes, seat upgrades and a meeting with the band.
