Boca defeats Calvary

Boca Raton’s softball team overcame Calvary Christian with a 10-7 victory on Tuesday night.

Pitchers Cierra Cochran and Taylor Cochrane split time on the mound to lead the way for Boca Raton. Cochran earned three hits on the night with an RBI. Carolina Garcia had two hits with four RBIs, and Dacia Green added another two hits and an RBI for the Bobcats.

With the win, the Boca improves to 5-2 on the season. The Bobcats will visit Olympic Heights tonight at 6 p.m. BASEBALL South Broward 10, Northeast 0 Maldanado pitched five innings for South Broward, with two hits and eight strikeouts. Schembari went 2-2 at the plate, earning two runs and three RBIs, while Zaremba went 1-3 with two runs and an RBI for the Bulldogs. *** Coral Glades 1, Monarch 0 The only run in this defensive affair came on a third-inning walk with the bases load. Matt Russo got the win for Coral Glades, pitching a complete game shutout with five strikeouts and two walks, giving up just one hit on the day. *** Benjamin 3, King’s Academy 0 Benjamin (1-4) gets their first win of the season with a two-hitter from starting pitcher Tyler Judge. Outfielder Paul Lanoce was 2-2 with two RBI and also earned the save for Benjamin. Freshman catcher Jake Gerardi had one of the only two hits for King’s. *** Western 3, Miramar 1 Devin Adams pitched a complete game for Miramar, striking out eight, but didn’t get a lot of offensive help until it was too late. Miramar’s only run came in the sixth when they were already in a three-run hole. *** Highlands Christian 10, Coral Springs Christian 2 Jurden D’arnault was 2-4 with two RBI in the game for Highlands Christian, while Louis Pagan went 1-4 and recorded a run in the Coral Springs Christian loss. *** St. John Paul 14, Spanish River 8 Danny Farinas was 2-3 with one run and three RBIs and Timmy Silk was 2-3 with one run scored for St. John Paul (3-0) in a win over Spanish River. Jake Luongo was 2-3 with one run and one RBI for the Sharks (2-1) in the loss. *** Boynton Beach 14, Glades Central 1 *** Oxbridge 2, Cardinal Newman 0 Zach Mazur and Frankie Guelli each scored a run for Oxbridge. *** Lake Worth Christian 10, Clewiston 4 Collin Donnelly went 2-4 with four RBIs for Lake Worth Christian, while Aldon Stacie pitched three innings with seven strikeouts, and went 2-3 at the plate to earn a double. *** Pompano Beach 5, North Broward Prep 1 Schuler picthed two innings with six strikeouts, while Castello pitched five innings with nine strikeouts and one hit for Pompano Beach (2-0). *** Westminste­r Christian 10, American Heritage 4 *** Atlantic 10, West Boca 4 Cameron Husing hit his first home run to lead Atlantic to a win over West Boca. Shelby Frazier was the winning pitcher for Atlantic. SOFTBALL Douglas 17, Deerfield Beach 0 Alina Varga pitched a complete game and had eight strikeouts, while Juliana Campos was 1-2 with a double and three RBIs for Douglas (6-0) in a victory over Deerfield Beach. *** Coral Springs Charter 11, Pompano 0 Amanda Flynn got to base five times for Coral Springs Charter (4-0), going 4-4 with a walk. She also knocked in two RBI and stole two bases. Lindsey Garcia and Gianna Boccagno also recorded two hits apiece, with Boccagno adding two runs. *** St. Thomas Aquinas 16, Piper 0 Amanda Agemy was 1-1 with a double and 3 RBI with Kendall Richardson adding a run and 4 RBI for the Raiders. Gabriella Mori registered 4 strikeouts and no hits in the threeinnin­g game to move the Raiders to 3-0 on the season. *** West Boca 19, Dwyer 4 Nikki Perrault went 2-2 with two RBI and Stephanie Proenza was 3-3 with three RBI for West Boca. Fuchs recorded 23 saves on the day, and Skinner kept Pine Crest star Chris Dunn in check, but it wasn’t enough to keep the Eagles from falling to .500. *** Cardinal Gibbons 13, North Broward Prep 3 RJ Breton had four goals and one assists, while James Foster and Cole O’Hallaron each had three goals while and Payton Goodrich added two goals for Cardinal Gibbons (6-1) in a win over North Broward Prep. Goalkeeper Joe Maguire had 14 saves for the Chiefs. *** Oxbridge 19, Wellington 3 Jack Kilian led Oxbridge with four goals for Oxbridge, Ryan Conforti and Kyle McCracken each had three, and Bennett Bowers, Shane Waina, and Breadon Rupp each added two goals.
