CLASS 4A SEMIFINAL

Westminster Academy (27-4) vs. Seffner Christian (24-6) Tipoff: Today, noon.

Coaches: Ehren Wallhoff, Westminster; Sam Moorer, Seffner

History: Westminster Academy looks for a return to the state championship game after reaching the Class 3A title game last season but falling to Windermere Prep. The Lions have won it all once — in 2002.

Buzz: Senior center Paul Atkinson averages 19.9 points and 13 rebounds; junior Zach Scott goes for 18.6 points and 6.9 assists; and senior Jason Strong 14.5 points and 10.5 boards. Seffner is led by senior guard Reid Walker (15.4 points).

Final: Friday at 8 p.m. Winner will take on winner of today’s 10 a.m. semifinal: Miami Archbishop Carroll (27-2) vs. Jacksonville Providence (24-5). ***

CLASS 5A SEMIFINAL

Calvary Christian (22-6) vs. Tallahassee Marianna (27-3) Tipoff: Today, 6 p.m.

Coaches: Cilk McSweeney, Calvary; Matt Anderson, Marianna

History: Calvary Christian reaches the final four for the first time. Marianna has reached four state championship games and won it all in 1981.

Buzz: Butler signee Jerald Butler leads Calvary with 15.3 ppg, 5.9 rpg and 5 apg. Southern Cal signee Victor Uyaelunmo averages 10.8 points and 13.9 boards. Marianna, with a deep bench, only has one player averaging double-figure scoring — 5-9 senior Jaeden Harley (11 ppg).

Final: Saturday at 10 a.m. Winner will take on winner of today’s 4 p.m. semifinal: Tampa Catholic (24-5) vs. Villages (28-2).
