Cultural diversity is the theme this weekend, with events throughout South Florida designed to immerse visitors in cultures found around the globe.

The Southeast Florida Scottish Festival and Highland Games on Saturday feature the sheepdog demonstrat­ions made famous by a pig in the movie “Babe.” See live sheep-herding and celebrate Scottish heritage with bagpipe music, dancing, athletics, fiddling and singing, Scottish food and Scottish games for kids at Plantation Heritage Park, 1100 S. Fig Tree Lane. The 9 a.m.-6 p.m. event is $25 for adults and $3 for ages 6-14. Get discount tickets in advance at sassf.org. The Mardi Gras Carnival on Friday night at Flamingo Park in Miami Beach has both Brazilian and Louisiana roots. This free celebratio­n from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday features live music from the Miami Beach Jazz Ensemble, a magic show, and arts and crafts. Morikami Museum & Japanese Gardens in Delray Beach has Family Fun Days through Sunday. Celebrate Hina Matsuri, a Japanese Doll Festival, and visit the gardens. Disney’s “The Little Mermaid” is also on stage through Sunday. See the familiar tale of a mermaid and her prince come to life with iconic songs, plus a few new ones, and plenty of adventure and dancing. Tickets start at $30. In “Rhythmic Circus: Feet Don’t Fail Me Now!” on Friday, Minneapoli­s dancers hit the road with a trunk full of tap shoes, funky costumes and a big brass band. “Heatbox,” the human beatbox, joins the seven-piece funk band to accompany a parade of genre-hopping music and hard-hitting percussive dance.
