A pair ’80s of duos
The Hall & Oates, Tears for Fears tour will stop in Miami.
Two of the most popular vocal duos of the 1980s have joined forces as Rock ’n’ Roll Hall of Famers Hall & Oates will hit the road with Tears for Fears on a summer tour coming to Miami’s AmericanAirlines Arena on June 7.
Tickets will cost $31-$125.50 and go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, at all Ticketmaster outlets, including Ticketmaster.com and by calling 800-745-3000.
Still an influence for yet another generation of soul and pop singers and songwriters, Hall & Oates began their remarkable relationship with the Billboard chart in the 1970s with “She’s Gone,” “Rich Girl” and “Sara Smile,” still considered by most (ahem) to be their best work. But it was during the 1980s that the duo scored the rest of their 16 Top 10 singles, including No. 1 hits “Kiss on My List,” “Private Eyes,” “I Can’t Go for That,” “Out of Touch” and “Maneater.”
Tears for Fears, meanwhile, was tapping into the frustrations of the time with enduring anthems “Shout” and “Everybody Wants to Rule the World,” which both reached No. 1 in the summer of 1985, and the soaring theatricality of the Beatles-esque “Sowing the Seeds of Love.” Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith are expected to release their fifth album together, the first in 13 years, this fall on Warner Bros. Records.
Young soul singer Allen Stone will do an opening set. Stone will release a new collection of music called “Radius Deluxe” on March 25.
