Don Shula lakefront home for sale
Palm Beach Gardens house listed for $2.7 million
Former Miami Dolphins head coach Don Shula and his wife Mary Anne Shula have listed their Palm Beach Gardens home inside Old Palm Golf Club for $2.7 million.
The two-story, 6,087-square-foot home features four master suites, four full baths and one half bath, a gourmet kitchen, vaulted ceilings, and a summer kitchen in the backyard.
The lakefront home also has views of the golf course that was designed by now retired professional golf champion Raymond Floyd.
The Mediterranean-style villa was used as a vacation house by the Shulas, according to Robert Floyd of Village Realty Group, the listing agent.
The couple resides full-time in Indian Creek in Miami-Dade County.
Shula’s poor health has limited his ability to travel, making it difficult for the couple to use the home and necessitating the sale. The NFL Hall of Fame legend turned 87 years old in early January.
Four golf memberships are packaged with the sale, providing the new owners access to all of the amenities the club provides, including the clubhouse, spa, pool and beach club.
Robert Floyd, son to the famed golfer, said the Shulas were among the club’s founding members and will retain their founders’ memberships.
Shula paid just over $2 million for the home in December 2004, according to Palm
Beach County property records.
Shula served as head coach of the Dolphins from 1970-1995, guiding Miami to two Super Bowl titles. His 1972 squad is the only team in NFL history to finish with a perfect regularseason record and win the Super Bowl.
After retiring from football, Shula invested in various local businesses, including two restaurants — Shula Burger and Shula’s Steak House — as well as a hotel in Miami Lakes.
He also has appeared in NutriSystem commercials with retired Miami Dolphins quarterback Dan Marino.
