Mitchell Putman was recently named as operations manager for All My Sons Moving & Storage in West Palm Beach, where he will oversee that location’s operation of 55 employees and a 15-truck fleet. Putnam started with the company as a driver in 2013 and has since held a variety of jobs with increasing responsibility: He was promoted to operations manager for the Dallas corporate location. Last year, Putman was placed in charge of opening a new location in San Antonio, handling everything from sourcing the location and office build-out to staff hiring.

Why I’m a good fit: I’ve taken the time to learn everything I can about the business and about household goods. That’s important to our customers because we are doing more than just moving, we are moving the items that our customers have worked so hard to possess. Myth busting: Make sure you do your research. Cheaper is not always better when you consider employees versus contractors. That is why we work hard to create motivated teams. On-the-job strategies: Leadership: Commitment made, commitment kept. Remain transparent in everything. Train and invest in your team. Goal: Provide the best moving experience. Period. Typical day: Organized chaos. Industry wisdom: Moving is not about how quick you can finish. What’s new: Social media: it can be the best, or the worst, tool for any company.

Professional development: Build relationships with various vendors, take time clients, referrals and potential customers. Advice to young professionals: Have a goal in mind; surround yourself with good people and don’t stop. On the side: Reading: “Developing the Leader within You,” by John C. Maxwell
