Voters to choose city, town leaders

Voters in some South Florida municipali­ties will head to the polls today to choose local leaders. Election informatio­n,

Some Broward and Palm Beach County voters will head to the polls Tuesday to choose city and town leaders.

Municipali­ties holding elections include: Boca Raton, Boynton Beach, Coconut Creek, Deerfield Beach, Delray Beach, Highland Beach, Lighthouse Point, Ocean Ridge, Miramar and Weston. In Hillsboro Beach, charter changes are on the ballot.

Where do I vote?

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., but anyone who is in line by 7 p.m. will be allowed to cast a ballot. You must vote at your precinct or return your vote-by-mail ballot to the elections office today. Postmarks do not count. Find your precinct:

Do I have to be registered?

You must be registered at least 29 days before the election to be able to vote. That deadline was Feb. 13. Check your voting status here: registrati­on.elections.myflorida.com/CheckVoter Status

What do I need at the

polls?

Bring a government issued photo ID such as a Florida driver’s license, state identifica­tion card, or most identifica­tion that includes both a photo and a current signature.

Look through your sample ballot as a reference, which you can take to the voting booth. Find a copy of your ballot at pbcelectio­ns .org in Palm Beach County or browardsoe.org/VoterInfor­mation/Sample-Ballot in Broward County.

Should I be concerned about voter fraud?

Fraud, including people maliciousl­y changing votes or voting multiple times, is extremely rare.

It is illegal under Florida law for anyone to campaign, or ask you who you plan to vote for, within 100 feet of your polling place.

If you have reason to believe voter fraud is being committed, you should contact the Florida Department of State’s voter fraud hotline: 1-877-868-3737.

What should I do if I have an issue?

Both Broward and Palm Beach election officials have teams in place to address voter concerns today. In Broward, call 954-357-7050; in Palm Beach County, call 561-656-6200.
