Wild about Wawa? Wewax. We only have to wait awhile wonger.

The fast-growing convenience store chain confirmed it will open its first South Florida stores on Thursday in Palm Beach County.

All three stores will open at 8 a.m. and offer free coffee for 10 days, according to a news release by the company.

Ribbon-cutting ceremonies will be staggered throughout the day, with giveaways to the first 100 customers through the door, breakfast tastings, hoagie-building competitions between local police and fire agencies, and “Wawa Day Proclamations.”

Locations and times of ribboncutting ceremonies are:

• 9 a.m. — Store #5213 — 3950 S. Congress Ave., Palm Springs

• 12:30 p.m. — Store #5223 — 1771 S. Congress Ave. Palm Springs

• 3 p.m. — Store #5214 — 7289 Garden Road., Riviera Beach

This is just the start of Wawa’s entry into the South Florida market. In its announcement, the company said it plans to open 10 stores in Broward and Palm Beach counties in 2017 and another 10 to 12 in 2018. Fifty stores are planned over the next five years, the company announced last year..

In Broward County, stores are planned to open this year in Pompano Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Davie, Parkland and Sunrise. A second Pompano Beach store and a store in Margate are in planning stages. Additional Palm Beach County stores are planned in Greenacres and West Palm Beach.

Wawa, a family-owned chain founded in Wawa, Pa., in 1964, has been steadily working its way south through Florida. Last November, the company celebrated the opening of its 100th Florida store in Brandon.

Fans praise its freshly made sandwiches, salads, wraps and fresh fruit, wide variety of coffee flavors, bright, clean interiors and friendly customer service.
