U.S. 6, Dominican Republic 3: The United States is going to the semifinals of the World Baseball Classic for the second time thanks to another impressive home run by Giancarlo Stanton at Petco Park and a spectacular catch at the fence by Adam Jones.

Stanton hit a go-ahead, two-run shot into the third-level balcony of the Western Metal Supply Co. Building in the left-field corner in the fourth inning Saturday night in San Diego, and Jones robbed Orioles teammate Manny Machado of a home run in the seventh to help the Americans eliminate the defending champions.

Team USA will face Japan on Tuesday night at Dodger Stadium for a spot in the championship game. The Americans lost to Japan in the 2009 semifinals.

The Dominican players, who rallied to beat the U.S. one week earlier in Miami in the first round, will return to their to big-league camps. They finished 1-2 in the second round after going 3-0 in the opening round.
