Changes don’t affect parties; they affect all

-

I don’t care if you voted Republican or Democrat. It’s your right to make that choice and it isn’t anyone’s business to suggest otherwise.

I am deeply concerned about the proposals, budget cuts and laws the current administration is endeavoring to pass. I only ask that regardless of who you voted for, and with all due respect, that you stay informed.

Do so without your party affiliation; be objective. The election is over, changes are in place and we all need to understand how those changes will affect us and generations to come. Please read unbiased reports on the impact of these cuts and proposals. Does this represent your point of view; can you live with it? While it may or may not affect you personally, it will affect our country in ways that will be devastating.

We are as Americans, and as such pledged to the flag — one nation under God. I don’t care what religion, sex or color you are. This is the United States of America. We are a great nation and we care for the young, the elderly, the sick and the poor. We care for our land and seas. We respect our freedom to worship as we individually choose without prejudice. We respect women’s rights and LGBT equality.

We do need a government that represents us as a country, and not private interests and agendas. We don’t need to agree on everything. We do need to open our minds and hearts. It isn’t about you, it isn’t about me. It is about what it means to live in America. Susan Shear, Delray Beach
