Man charged in eating incident
He pulled up a chair to a portable table and poured syrup over the golden pancakes. He wore patterned green pajama pants and fuzzy-trimmed slippers and was set to enjoy breakfast. The only problem? He was in the middle of a busy Central Florida street.
Lakeland police say they got a call Tuesday about a man sitting in a chair at a TV table in the crosswalk of Memorial Boulevard at Brunnell Parkway.
Video shows several vehicles stopping and trying to navigate around him.
Police said the man left before officers arrived.
They went back to the intersection on Thursday and found a suspect, Kiaron Thomas, 21, living about 100 yards away.
Thomas told investigators the whole thing was a prank, police said. He was cited on charges of placing an obstruction in the roadway and disrupting the free flow of traffic.
Police issued a court date for him in April.
