An orchestra will perform movie music on stage during a new presentation called “The Music of Pixar Live! A Symphony of Characters” at Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park.

The event will be presented three times nightly beginning May 26. It will be staged at the park’s Theater of the Stars, which is the longtime home of the “Beauty and the Beast — Live on Stage” show.

The new production will feature tunes from Pixar scores, from films ranging from “Toy Story” to the upcoming “Cars 3,” Disney says. Appearances by characters including Woody, Jessie, Mike and Sulley, the Incredibles and others also are in the works.

Disney has not said how similar the Studios show would be to the traveling “Pixar in Concert” series. That show, which included a stop at downtown Orlando’s Dr. Phillips Center, had clips and songs from “Up,” “Finding Nemo,” “Brave” and more. But it lasted two hours, longer than is likely in a theme-park environment.

The “Beauty and the Beast” show will remain on the daily Hollywood Studios lineups with multiple showtimes. A schedule on the Walt Disney World website indicates five shows a day, although the first show will start as early as 10 a.m. instead of the typical 11 a.m. beginning.

Disney has not announced an end date for the Pixar show, although it is mentioned as a summertime offering on the official Disney Parks Blog.
