Dania Beach is beefing up its roster of hotels for vacationers, cruise line passengers and business people.

The newly built Home2 Suites by Hilton Fort Lauderdale AirportCruise Port is now open at 161 SW 19th Court, offering 130 suites with fully equipped kitchens and modular furniture, and complimentary Wi-Fi.

The all-suite extended stay hotel, the first for the Home2 Suites brand in Broward County, also offers a complimentary breakfast station called Inspired Table and the Home2 MKT counter for grab-and-go purchases.

The pet-friendly hotel’s amenities also include Spin2 Cycle, a combined laundry and fitness area, outdoor saline pool, fire pit and patio area.

“Whether you’re here to explore the beautiful beaches or preparing to set sail on a cruise, Home2 Suites by Hilton provides travelers complete comfort and convenience,” said Pansy Garcia, general manager, in a statement.

The Home2 Suites created about 30 new jobs in the community, Garcia noted.

This year Dania Beach is poised to welcome at least three new hotels in addition to the reopening of the former Sheraton hotel that’s undergoing a multimillion dollar conversion and re-branding to Le Meridien.

The two other new properties are the 142-room Wyndham Garden and 143-room Morrison Hotel, which have targeted openings for summer and September, respectively.

In 2014, Dania lost its largest hotel — the 388-room Hilton Fort Lauderdale Airport — which was demolished to make way for the new south runway at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.

Prior to its demolition, the eightstory Hilton hotel had been a city fixture for nearly 30 years.

In the years since its razing, Dania has been slowly adding new hotels to fill the Hilton’s gap and meet growing demand for area lodging.

In September 2014, the city welcomed a new 156-room Residence Inn by Marriott at the intersection of Griffin Road and Anglers Avenue. And more new hotels are in various stages of development, including a 158-room Lexington Inn & Suites, which is expected to open in mid-to-late 2018, according to a spokesman for its developer.

The new Home2 Suites in Dania is owned by Dania Beach Management Inc. and managed by CN Hotels Inc. of Greensboro, N.C. It joins a handful of new hotels already opened in Broward this year.

Two others include the 163-room Plunge Beach Hotel in Lauderdale by the Sea and the 407-unit Hyde Resort & Residences in Hollywood, which began welcoming guests in mid-April and in February, respectively.

The Hyde project features 40 residential condos and 367 resort units, which are rented as hotel rooms to the public when owners aren’t staying there.

Later this month, the 102-room Hampton Inn Fort Lauderdale/ Pompano Beach hotel is slated to open, according to developer Luckey’s Management of Fort Lauderdale.
