Ozinga, an 89-year-old concrete supplier based in Illinois, said Monday it has acquired Banaszak Concrete Corp. of Broward County.

Justin Ozinga, president of Ozinga’s concrete division, said Banaszak’s locations in Davie and Hollywood will help support his firm’s newly opened facility in Miami, its first Florida operation.

Ozinga will take on Banaszak’s 20 employees, and there are no scheduled layoffs, Justin Ozinga said.

The company hopes to hire about 25 workers, mostly drivers and quality control and sales representatives, he said.

“Both companies are family-run businesses,” Justin Ozinga said. “They have similar values and ethics, and their employees will be a great cultural fit.”

Based in Mokena, Ill., Ozinga operates across the Midwest.

Banaszak has been a concrete supplier in Broward since 1964. The company has locations at 2401 College Ave. in Davie and 3523 Pembroke Road in Hollywood.

President Howard Banaszak did not return a phone message Monday.

Ozinga’s new South Florida venture will be headed by Jose F. Diaz, Jr., vice president and general manager; Pepe Diaz, vice president of business development; and JC Calleiro, vice president of sales.

Terms of the sale were not disclosed.
